We are all in this together
Dear Members,
In these difficult, challenging and unprecedented times, especially with the announcement by Government yesterday that all those who are aged 65 and over are to stay at home until further notice, the RMGC is realigning its resources to set up a support structure for its members.
The services, headed by Kirsten, will principally offer assistance to those members that are either on compulsory lockdown because of the Government directive or temporarily in isolation after travel, will see the RMGC offer help such as:-
Supplies – assistance in organising shopping and medicine deliveries
IT services – help with payment of online bills, setting up of social media, et al
Advice – help in understanding Government and Health Authority advices and notices and the use of essential contact numbers for emergency
Information – making members aware of Pharmacy opening times, businesses that are offering specialist services, discounts, that sort of thing
News – useful links to articles, publications and general interest material
A listening ear – a cheerful voice to speak to if you are feeling fed up or lonely
This service will commence on Monday 30th March 2020.
From Monday, Kirsten will be calling all members over the age of 65 just to touch base and to see if you need any support, however major or minor, going forward. If, in the meantime you require further information then please email Kirsten on [email protected] or call her direct number 20991046 or at the club 25401344.
A small reminder to all. Always keep some cash at home for those home deliveries.
And, please please, if you do need help, reach out to us.
Be well.

Club Closure
Dear Members,
As you are no doubt aware the Prime Minister yesterday announced another raft of containment measures around the COVID19 coronavirus pandemic in his press conference yesterday. This means that our bar and restaurant will have to close from midnight tonight. https://timesofmalta.com/articles/view/all-public-places-bars-restaurants-to-be-shut-amid-coronavirus-spread.778604 The Marsa Sports Club has had to closed down as a consequence of this.
We are unsure as to whether the directives announced include outside spaces such as the golf course and have written to Government for clarification in this regard as they have not as yet published the Legal Notice pertaining to yesterday’s measures. Thus far, we have not had a reply either way from Government so we will close the course tomorrow for the purpose of maintenance. We envisage that we will either have a response from Government directly or will have had sight of the legal notice by close of play tomorrow at which time we will update you fully.

Extra measures – COVID19 Coronavirus
In order to strengthen existing restrictions at the club we have today introduced a compulsory declaration form that needs to be completed by members when they attend the club.
The form asks members to confirm that they are fully in compliance with the Government’s legal notices in respect of the pandemic. The contents of legal notices are now compulsory and are backdated for the red zones to 27th February 2020.
Please be patient and cooperative with those that ask you to fill in these mandatory forms – they are doing so to protect your safety and well-being; in respect of yourself and fellow members, many of which are of a certain age and who have pre existing medical conditions.
In addition to this we are restricting admittance to the RMGC to those that hold a valid Maltese ID card only.
