Happy New Year to all

New Year’s Eve:Ladies

As we come to the end of a most challenging & disruptive Covid year 2020, we can only look back & think of how fortunate we as golfers have been here at RMGC.

The last fun competition of 2020

Our  “Bingo Bango Bongo” was won by Mrs Felicity Dix with 65 points on count back from Mrs Maria Woodward in 2nd place

Twos: Mrs Sue Wibrew on the 6th

With restrictions & social distancing in place for the last number of months we have proven that this wonderful outdoor sport  has helped us through, both physically & mentally, a prolonged period of uncertainty which for those less fortunate than us has been an uphill struggle.

Looking ahead we have better times to look forward to whilst continuing to comply with Covid restrictions.  2021 gives hope of a vaccine that will help us return to a new normal when golf & the social aspect of our club will be enjoyed once more.  Our committee can only continue to work behind the scenes for the moment but hopefully by the end of our season & our Lady Captain’s year we will again be able to hold an AGM with full participation from all you valued lady members.

2021 is on our doorstep & there is nothing more to do but wish each & every one of you A VERY HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR.

The only handicap worth thinking about at this stage is the one which prevents us from moving forward with positivity for the future. Everything else is trivial!!

January 2nd starts the January IBM Monthly Medal (Saturday players) followed on Thursday 7th Ladies Morning.

January 9th is The Falcon Cup (Saturday players) followed on Thursday 14th January Ladies Morning.

The ladies Committee.

Ladies New Year’s Eve Bingo Bongo Bango

The last of 2020 ladies competition. We will go out with a Bang(o) and have an enjoyable competitive round of golf.

Boxing Day Scramble Results

Dear members,

This year we played a mixed scramble Stableford format (10% of total handicap) for Boxing Day and saw seventy-eight players take the field. It was a very entertaining day bearing witness to both the sublime and the ridiculous from certain players.

The competition was fierce with the winning top three teams all scoring 47 points, with the placement separated by countback, going to back 6 for second and third places; the results are as follows:

  • 1st place: I. Tabone / P. Baldacchino / M. Azzopardi / D. Debono (€35 each)
  • 2nd place: R. Waterhouse / M. Waterhouse / P. Howes / E. Borg (€25 each)
  • 3rd place: I. Heikkila / M. Kujapelto / H. Lehtiniemi / A. Kumpulainen (€15 each)

Players enjoyed mulled wine or a free drink and a mince pie on the Captain’s Committee. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yours in Golf,

Mark Siddall, Social Secretary

Ladies New Year’s Eve Bingo Bango Bongo

After all the food that was consumed over Christmas, let us all meet up (social distancing in place) and have an enjoyable round of golf with a difference.

Golfers are awarded one point per hole for each of the following.

Be the first player in the group to hit her golf ball on the green (Bingo);

Be the player in the group whose golf ball is closest to the pin after all the golf balls are on the green (Bango);

Be the first player in the group to hole out (Bongo)

If you have not signed up as yet, please do so and let us see the end of this year with our spirits high, healthy and happy still able to play golf, albeit socially distancing.
