Summer Order of Merit Prizes – Best Lady Best Man – sponsored by Servizo® Summer Order of Merit points for entering, additional points for placings Double OM points in Round 9

Bonus awards – longest drives, nearest the pin and other challenges

Eligibility – all RMGC members with handicap index to 54, members without current handicap are encouraged to enter and play with a marker but may not win prizes until they acquire their handicap index

The competition committee and office will assist in finding you playing partners, especially if you are new and looking to get your handicap

Formats – 6 individual formats stableford (Q or non Q) 3 fun formats – (whether qualifier depends on ongoing summer course maintenance)

Thursdays – reserved and random slot booking options

Putters Inn will be open Thursday evenings when there is a competition. Stay for drinks or food after each competition, all members are welcome to dine in the evenings

With The Rest holding a slender lead over Malta going into Day Three, 16 Singles matches took place with Laurens and William Beck leading the way. William went on to win his match, and it was swings and roundabouts right to the very end, with Malta winning the Sword with a 5 foot putt from JJ Micallef on the 17th and the competition by collecting 16.5 points over The Rest with a total of 15.5, half a point short of retaining the trophy.

Some very good golf, some great friendly rivalry and many thanks to Nigel for refereeing, and thankfully not being overused, Mary Ann for the scoreboard at the back of the 10th green, all the hard work carried out by Phil and his team in preparing the course and of course Laferla Insurance and Dan Jon for sponsoring the event, and supplying a great lunch for the players.

Ladies Section

After a very humid morning and some great golf from many of the players, Sean Bradshaw to 4 inches from the fairway bunker on the 18th to claim a half being one of the many highlights, The Rest have stretched their lead by one point to lead by three with 16 singles matches to go tomorrow.

The Rest require 6.5 matches to retain the Sword, and 7 to win, whilst Malta appear to have a little more to do, requiring to gain 10 more points.

We would like to thank Richard and Rebecca for a splendid Drive out.  It was a splendid evening.
Must also thank all those you very kindly donated to Rebecca’s nominated charity St. Jean Antide Foundation in Tarxien.  A lovely sum of Euros292.50 was collected.  Thank you all so very much.
