Good morning all
First of all, thank you for coming and of course being part of the AGM which brings with it extremely exciting times for the history of the RMGC. Such a turn out shows the love not only for this game but also for this Club
A special thank you also goes out to Benji for guiding and mentoring me over the last 12 months and his fantastic team. Thank you.
On a personal note thank you for voting me in to be your Captain. It’s a privilege and honour to stand here as your Captain
The Captaincy to me is something that comes with huge responsibility, however it is the kind of responsibility that I will embrace and most of all enjoy.
Many fantastic past Captains at our last Caucus dinner came up to me and told me Jay.. simply enjoy it.. for it truly is an incredible experience and I plan to do just that.
I am now here to serve the club in the best way possible.
I promise to bring youth, Freshness but most of all to ensure we always keep the ethos of the club at the forefront of everything we do. Whilst also ensuring a fun, social and competitive season for all our members.
I will make it a point not just to be a Captain for the active & competitive golfer but also… all the members, staff and visitors of this great club.
The Lady Captain and I are also thrilled to announce the fact that we are 100% on the same page and we have the backing of the BOM to start the process of making the club more inclusive to all members. Meaning we will slowly start adopting ‘gender neutral’ competitions which will see more competitions being played together and the possibility in other competition’s to play amongst each other. We will share more on this in due course.
Now onto my Captains Committee for the 2023/24 season.
This was actually a very hard process, as so many fantastic people stepped forward and for this I am so incredibly grateful.
This year I wanted to make a few small but significant changes to the CC and that is to introduce some Scandinavian blood to the mix. As I truly believe that with the ever growing dynamics of the club they are more and more becoming a massive part of our club and for that I am happy. I also truly believe they deserve to have a significant voice within the day to day running of the club.
I am proud to say that two fantastic individuals immediately agreed to join what I feel will be a fresh but dynamic team mixed with incredible experience and new fresh ideas
My team will consist of:
Tero Vienonen – PR & Sponsor relation
Tore Lindtveit – Course Liaison & Co Social Secretary
Steward Davies – General Secretary & Co Social Secretary
Dennis Baltzis – Retains Co Competition Secretary & co Hcap Secretary
Victor Denaro – Co Competition Secretary & co Hcap Secretary
Lady Captain – Doreen Balzan
And for my
Vice Captain & Treasurer – Mr Nick Urpani
Together we now have the incredibly challenging task to somehow leave this years committee in a better place than the way we found it and believe me that is no easy task, but a task we will strive towards everyday
I also chose this team as I needed a mix of experience and fresh ideas to ensure we are as agile but yet as consistent as possible, to best handle this massive course development plan and still deliver a great season for all.
We are here to serve the club in the best possible way and I please ask you all to show my entire team the same incredible support that you have all shown me.
Your Captain,
Jay Jay Micallef
