Garrison Bogey presented by Interni Italia

This seasons mission statement is “Energy”, for both the Men’s and Ladies section and a full clubhouse greeted our newest sponsor Interni Italia, represented by Fabio, Manuela and Gaia.

All had flown in from Sicily in inclement weather yesterday evening, and this is the second part of their significant support this season, led by the Creasy Cup, and also to follow, April‘s third major, the Scratch Challenge.

In demanding conditions, Sub-par scoring was again at a premium, with only 5 players bettering par.

Stephen Knights arrived in the clubhouse after his +1 round from Friday, with the almost certain expectation of a podium finish, but had to settle for 5th and a free lunch – always pleasing for a Yorkshireman.

Fourth, on count-back (+2), remaining in good form after his win last week, Scotsman, Steve Paterson.

Third, after several recounts, and requests from various members for the card to be checked, Vice Captain, Irwin Gratil, who did well to find his way to the winners enclosure. It’s been a while.

He lost on count-back to young Mark Ganado, who continues to impress, even with a much lower handicap. +2 also and 2nd place.

But holding the lead overnight, and not surprisingly holding on to it, Frenchman, Alex Lemire. Again, it’s been a while for him to lift a trophy, but his score of +3 was good enough for the win, the trophy, and 25 OOM points.

The team will now take a break for two weeks, and reconvene for the BOV medal in January. This will be led by the Vice Captain, as I will also be away.

Can I take this opportunity to give my immense thanks to the team at Interni Italia for their support of this weekend‘s competition, and the wider support for the Club, which continues to blossom. They are indeed very welcome at the Club and we aim to build on this already successful partnership.

All that remains for me is to thank my team for their work over the first three months of the season and to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and prosperous and healthy 2025.
