MGA Shield

The Malta Golf Association was founded in 2006 and within the first year, by agreement with the RMGC, started to organise this annual event as a closed event for RMGC affiliated members.

Cup Insights

• The competition will be played by individual medal stroke play in a two-day event over 36 holes.
• A cut will be applied after the first round. To ensure proper competition for the prizes, the cut will be based on the best scores in approximate proportion to the number of entries according to gender.
• The player with the lowest aggregate net score over 36 holes will be the overall winner of the competition. In the event of a tie after the last round, the following procedure will be applied in sequence to decide the result: best net score of the last 18, 9, 6, 3, 2, 1 hole respectively; the same count back procedures for the best net score of the previous round respectively. The player’s full handicap will be applied and calculated in this respect and will include any fraction of a stroke, when necessary.
From 2016 separate prizes are awarded to Men’s and Ladies winners.
