Royal Malta Golf Club AGM & Captains’ Drive-In 2026
On Tuesday, 22 September 2026, we held our Annual General Meeting at Royal Malta Golf Club, providing an opportunity to update our members on the progress made over the past year and, importantly, to share some of our plans and ambitions for the future.
The AGM covered a wide range of areas across the Club, including continued investment in our golf course and facilities, plans for the future of our clubhouse, new technology and machinery, and the Board of Trustees’ longer-term vision for RMGC.
Following the AGM, our Chairman, Paul Stoner, has followed up with a communication to members, providing a more detailed overview of the matters discussed during the meeting and what lies ahead for the Club.
Investing in the Future of RMGC
A significant part of this year’s AGM focused on the continued development of Royal Malta Golf Club and our commitment to improving the experience we provide both on and off the golf course.
Our members were shown initial concepts for a substantially upgraded clubhouse environment, including a reimagined retail area, enhanced social spaces, modern meeting facilities and improvements to our food and beverage areas. The objective is to create a clubhouse that complements the quality of our golf course and provides an even better environment for our members and their guests.
On the course, we also outlined plans to continue investing in modern machinery and technology, alongside further improvements to our bunkers and maintenance capabilities. These developments are designed to help us continue raising course standards while improving the efficiency and sustainability of our operations.
These projects form part of our wider five-year vision for RMGC, which is centred on securing the Club’s long-term future, strengthening our water supply, continuing to enhance the golf course and embracing technology where it can make a positive difference.
Recognising Special Contributions
The AGM also gave us the opportunity to recognise individuals who have made an important contribution to Royal Malta Golf Club.
We were delighted to formally recognise Susan Wibrew, Andrea Hamilton Hill and Kim Borg as Honorary Members of RMGC.
We congratulate all three and thank them for their contribution and continued support of our Club.
Welcoming Our New Captains
Following the formal business of the AGM, attention turned to one of the great traditions in the RMGC calendar – the Captains’ Drive-In.
We were delighted to welcome Tim Cleasby as our Club Captain and Maria Camilleri Sandu as our Lady Captain for the 2026/27 season.
With members, friends and family gathered around the first tee, Tim and Maria officially drove into office, marking the beginning of their year as Captains.
The Drive-In provided a fantastic way to conclude an important day for the Club, with members coming together to welcome our new Captains and enjoy the evening.
We wish Tim and Maria every success for the year ahead and look forward to supporting them throughout what promises to be a busy and enjoyable 2026/27 season.
Looking Ahead
There is plenty to look forward to at Royal Malta Golf Club.
Beyond the projects already being developed, the longer-term vision includes ideas such as improvements to our driving range facilities, a new halfway house, further use of technology around the course and opportunities to continue welcoming major international golfing events to Malta.
We would like to thank all of our members who attended the AGM and joined us afterwards for the Captains’ Drive-In, as well as everyone who continues to contribute to the development and success of Royal Malta Golf Club.
