Beverley Hall, RMGC past Lady Captain 2021, presented a 2023 Calendar Women in Golf to Jackie Davidson, Director – Golf Development at the R & A on the occasion of a recent visit to the R&A TARS (Tournament Administration and Referees Seminar) 2023 held in St Andrews, Scotland. The calendar concept was a follow-on from our current 2022 Lady Captain’s, Eileen Borg, ‘Play in Pink’ initiative for her Lady Captain’s Day last October. ‘Play in Pink’ is a breast cancer charity begun in Ireland to raise donations for that worthy cause via the golf community. Eileen’s day was a great success and € 1750 was raised. Some of the proceeds were also donated to: The University of Malta Research Innovation and Development Trust and Eileen presented a cheque to the Irish Ambassador Caroline Whelan. RMGC won the overseas award for the best photograph submitted to ‘Play in Pink’. Meanwhile, Beverley discussed with Jackie a number of successful ideas and case studies the R & A, Jackie and the Women in Golf Charter members have initiated to raise awareness and membership drives for Women in Golf worldwide. The Malta Golf Association and RMGC are intending to drive forward some of these ideas through 2023 and beyond. If you are reading this and are keen to start a new sport that is suitable for all, any age, any gender, beginner or with some experience, we’d like to welcome you at Royal Malta Golf Club to ‘have a go’ at golf. Please contact Kirsten, [email protected] and we’ll get back to you with a programme of activities to encourage new golfers.
