After events at Royal Troon yesterday, attention turned to this week’s Seniors equivalent played over the Carnoustie links, starting this Thursday.
4 qualifying events took place today over separate courses, one of which was at Panmure Golf Club in Carnoustie.
Over a 100 players competed for *only 5 places.*
One of which was our own Andy Borg, and what a performance.
5 birdies in a one under round of 69. Having watched the scores for most of the day this had got him into the Open by late afternoon, but a trickle of low scores, late on, left him in 6th place. One off the qualifying !!!
Agonizing is too polite a word but he can be proud of his performance, which clearly demonstrates his ability to take the Seniors Tour on.
He now travels back to Malta but will spearhead the country’s efforts at next weeks European Team Shield.
