Sponsored by Sicilia Outlet Village and organised by Eugene and his seniors’ team

On a very fresh Monday morning  45 golfers took to the course to play for the final of the Seniors Challenge Cup in the 2024 season
Early indications showed great endeavour by many
The favourites all played well except with the absence of Nigel Hall,  it was all to play for
At the end of play,  all participants were astonished by the high scores by ladies and men alike.
Maurice Grupetta had a brilliant 41pts,  it wasn’t enough to take the  winner top spot of the day, that went to Stephanie Sciberas with 42 pts , remarkable in the testing conditions.
Others fighting their way up the leaderboard were Saul Kupferburg with another splendid 41pts. Alas,  not enough for prizes on the day
Other notable scores were Maureen Borg , Anthony Farrugia and Sue Wibrew all breaking net par.
So it came down to the overall.
Stephen Scherrar looked certain to take the Cup with a a very creditable 38 pts to add to his 41 from the last round , but a brilliant 43 pts from Pete Gable took it to a card play off . In the end PG edged out SS
Well done to the winners and all the participants. Our final action was a short presentation by our chairman PS who advised that Seniors is to be expanded next season with extra dates and reduced age entry point to 60. He also expressed his enthusiasm for Seniors tournaments with the prospect of a  Malta Seniors Open to be staged in the near future
